Staffing Coordinator
The Staffing Coordinator collaborates with Nurse Managers and Nursing Supervisors to coordinate the staffing of various nursing departments. This work involves making and receiving phone calls, excellent communication and customer skills, documentation, working with an acuity based staffing/scheduling system. Must be able to consistently demonstrate EMMC caring behaviors with all customers. Able to work closely and collaboratively with others. Ability to focus and multitask in a busy environment. Must be able to meet timelines for finalization of and communication of unit staffing within the established guidelines.
PREFERED EDUCATION: Associates degree or equivalent experience.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED: Minimum of 1 year work experience in an acute care hospital setting. Mature, well-adjusted individual with the ability to work effectively with others. Strong organizational, interpersonal, typing and computer skills. Very strong verbal and written communication skills. Must demonstrate good decision-making and problem-solving abilities, as well as prioritization and delegation skills. Must be able to function independently with minimal supervision and with high personal standards for the quality and accuracy of the work performed. Must support hospital and department policies and procedures, including hospital and patient confidentiality.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: Unit secretary or previous experience with staffing/scheduling preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Manual dexterity, visual acuity, hearing acuity, and flexibility. Able to verbally communicate. Able to sit for long periods, using a keyboard. Moderate walking throughout the facility. Light to moderate lifting and carrying of files, supplies and equipment. Some reaching and bending to file and store supplies.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Well-heated, well-ventilated inside office environment. Ergonomically correct work station. Requires sitting 95% of the time and some walking; frequent use of CRT monitors and data entry keyboards. Involves working closely with others.
